I applied for a study – what now?

Participating in a clinical research study is a personal decision. You may decide to participate as a healthy volunteer with an interest in helping others and contributing to science and research. If you have an illness or a disease, your participation may be more in hopes of gaining access to potential new treatment options and receiving additional care and attention from board-certified physicians and other medical staff. Either way, clinical research studies offer hope and allow us to make advancements in discovering new treatments.

When you decide to apply for a clinical research study what should you expect?

When you apply for a research study at Stamford Therapeutics, rest assured you’re in good hands. Our mission is to conduct the highest quality clinical trials so that new, safe and effective medications can be developed, researched and approved for a variety of indications and diseases.

What does this mean for you?

We’re here to make your experience as easy and comfortable as possible. When you apply to participate, you’ll receive a text asking for the best time for us to call you. If you don’t want us to call you, that’s okay! You can call us – our number is listed right in the initial text just for that intention.

Things happen – not everyone texts or is able to receive them.

Don’t worry, we are going to call you! During our conversation, we will get some information from you that will help us to better determine if you’re a good candidate to participate in the study. We’ll let you know that we’re going to ask some medical questions that will help us, and do so in a way that puts you at ease. From there, you may be scheduled for a screening visit at our site.

During a screening visit, you will have the opportunity to any questions. You’ll review your medical history and undergo a physical exam. You may even have some testing done that day, depending on the study. You’ll get to learn about the study in-depth and review informed consent. You will meet with medical staff and physicians.  A great benefit of participation is the access to more in-depth care than you would receive at your local physician’s office.

A few studies are enrolling now at Stamford Therapeutics Consortium. Those that qualify have access to potential new treatments and are cared for by board-certified physicians.
