Dr. Amy Kappelman is a pediatrician and sub-investigator currently working at ALSA Research. Since February 2023, she has been involved in both a Phase 2 and 3 safety study of a Lyme disease vaccine for healthy children as well as a clinical research trial for obesity in adolescents. Dr. Kappelman has over a decade of clinical experience, having worked as a physician and partner at Greenwich Pediatric Associates from 2007 to 2019, where she provided comprehensive primary care to children, including newborns and inpatients at Greenwich and Stamford Hospitals. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she trained from 2004 to 2007. Dr. Kappelman earned her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2004 and her B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale University in 2000, where she also conducted research in liver gene expression.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Kappelman has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service, with a history of participation in programs such as the Soros Service Program for Community Health, where she provided care for homeless individuals, and the Homeless Health Initiative during her residency. She has also held leadership roles in organizing primary care initiatives and youth-focused programs. Dr. Kappelman is licensed to practice in Connecticut and continues to contribute to both pediatric care and medical research.
