Jeff Stein serves as the president of Stamford Therapeutics Consortium. He came to the company in 2007, bringing his varied business and healthcare industry experiences to STC with the objective of taking the clinical trials company to a new level of success. In 2015 he acquired New England Research Associates from its founder, Dr. Geoffrey Gladstein, with the same goal of bringing the company to success by introducing innovative CTMS platforms.

Jeff Stein began his career on Wall Street working for Salomon Brothers in their Boston, New York, and London locations from 1980 to 1989. While there, he performed a variety of functions in the mortgage and real estate departments. His early work as a mortgage backed securities specialist led to his assignment to London where he started the first international mortgage backed securities department at any Wall Street firm. In London, he served as the manager of MBS sales and trading, and acted as a liaison with the Tokyo market allowing for 24 hour trading of MBS products. From 1989 to 1992, he worked as a director of MBS sales for Greenwich Capital Markets, and then from 1992 to 1995 at Daiwa Securities where he served in the same capacity.

Jeff left Wall Street in 1995 and acquired a controlling interest in Healthcare Properties, a nursing home chain with four skilled nursing facilities (SNF) in north and central New Jersey. As a managing partner, he was directly responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company and for the daily operations of the homes. Under Jeff Stein’s management, the company became one of the founding members of the New Jersey Post Acute Network, the first network in the country of independent SNF’s focused on sub-acute care. Additionally, one of the HCP facilities became one of the first in New Jersey to receive the JCAHO (Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) accreditation for its sub-acute unit. During his tenure, revenue and profits grew by 30%, and in 1998 the partnership sold the last of the Healthcare Properties facilities for the highest per bed price ever paid in state of New Jersey.

Over the next several years, Jeff’s business and finance background led him to take on the roles of CFO and director of business development at startup companies ranging from Robotic Parking, an automated parking garage manufacturer, Matrix Medical Network, a physician practice management company focused on creating a new model for physician services in the skilled nursing facility setting and XTG LLC, a financial markets software infrastructure company.

In 2007, Jeff brought his Wall Street and healthcare experience together as he searched for an opportunity to lead a profitable and successful company in the medical field. He was introduced to STC through his role as a private investor in Comprehensive Neuroscience Inc., a company based in White Plains, NY that conducts phase I-IV clinical trials for the treatment of central nervous system disorders.

Jeff bought STC in 2007 with the goal of fostering a comfortable and trusted environment of care with a total focus on patient safety, growing and enhancing the company’s relationships with trial sponsors and CRO’s, and providing its trial partners with the highest quality data. He has applied these same principles to New England Research Associates since 2015.

Today Jeff resides in New Canaan, CT with his wife Cathie. He is an alumnus of the University of Vermont with a B.S. in business administration (1976) and Northeastern University, MBA (1980). He is an avid skier and golfer and enjoys reading and music.
